Itinerary
We start our day trip at 9:00 a.m. this day trip will allow you to appreciate the calm of the countryside, Takerkoust Lake, and the Agafay Desert.
The journey is surrounded by lush vegetation and olive and orange orchards. It goes via Ait Imour, where we will go off-road and drive through a completely different scenery of stone desert, barren light brown plateaux, Bedouin town, Oasis, and high hills with panoramic views of the High Atlas.
After a few hours, small spots of green will appear, and you’ll soon be back on the tarmac road, flanked by old eucalyptus trees. You’ll arrive at the edge of the Lalla Takerkoust lake, which was built as a dam.
Where does Marrakech’s electricity come from? You will approach Nfis valley by small hills beside the dam, passing through Berber towns, and arrive at a Berber family house.
You can have lunch inside the house. After lunch, Saida or Hamid will lead a 2-hour hike and an hour climb to one of the Atlas Mountains’ oldest communities in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains’ largest forest.
After an F a visit to a traditional olive oil presser, you will come down between olive trees and terraced fields to the only house next to the Nfis river, from where your journey will continue to Ouiragan via the forest, traditional salt pools, and to Asni, a small town with a view of Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak.
Before we get to Marrakech, you will pass through the Moulay Brahim gorges, the Ghighaya valley, and Tahanouete.
